LEAVES

The wind
Dancing with leaves
Tells stories to the trees
And the wash of the storm
Brings new stories to me

Children play along the tide
And the breeze brings them back
At the end of the day
When night comes to stay
And the leaves ride their way
Back down

Crumpled and lonely
The leaves that are left
Curl up under storm shelter
Weepy and dressed
With the worries of winter
And the spell of fall nights

The fresh air straightens
And plays with the leaves
Curling them up again
Letting them be
