UNTITLED LOSS
It's not as if the townspeople cried
Not like the dogs barked
Not like the children howled.
It's not as if the neighbors mourned
Not like the forest shed its beauty
The mountains cowered in despair.
It's not as if it were obvious
Not like everyone knew
It's not like they cared where or who.
It's not as if they would remember
Not like they would try
He would not be their problem.
It's not as if he were noble
Not like he should be saved
Not like anyone would cry.
It's not as if he mattered
Not like they thought he did
Not like it were written down.
It's not as if the boy were doomed
Not like he deserved it
He was only hidden in the crowd.
He was only hidden in history.
