NOT A FRIEND Alone is not inviting Alone is not a friend Alone is not the place to be Not the latest trend Alone is in the darkness With no one else around In the place of dampness Where nothing makes a sound Alone is where the lonely hide Not the big and bold Alone is where fools and cowards crouch Of emptiness and cold Alone is a place of drop-backs Where to go when you lost your chance Yet it's not all it's cracked up to be - only second string It's the place of wallflowers - not the place to prance But if you are careful Try harder to exist Make new friends much sooner Alone won't make your list You won't fall back in a hoax To a fraud of another chance The place that seems to want you But holds later its dark lance Don't be caught in the web Don't be tricked and don't be duped Because you can avoid it Stop becoming looped Remember Alone is not so good Alone is just a bend But the road continues on toward better While Alone was never a friend Written in 1999.
