WAKE

Don't know why I covered
But somehow it fell
Don't know when the branches
Begged to sleep and yearned to tell

Somewhere there was you
And at one time I shone through
And the dewdrops started falling
And I guess you saw the truth

There was me at a time
I started crying with the moon
Beneath the dusty glow of dusk
But you held me on 'til noon

You saw through but you looked past
You saw the puzzle but you didn't run
Tried to put me back together
Saw through me and saw someone

Don't know why it ended
But I wished that it would last
You took my hand when it felt like frost
Saw through to me and looked on past

When the dewdrops started falling
And I was sure that I was chipped
You looked at me and you were steady
When I swear I could have slipped

Somewhere in the puzzle
Above the doubt signed near my name
You convinced me there could be a glow
So thanks to you for the day that came.
